Your oyster mushroom farm can have good humidity, temperature and spawn quality—and still produce poor-looking mushrooms.
One overlooked factor is air velocity.
🌬️ Moderate airflow / proper FAE
• Helps reduce excessive CO₂
• Supports normal cap development
• Reduces long, thin stems
• Improves commercial appearance
⚠️ Excessive airflow
• Causes rapid surface drying
• Leads to dry, cracked or “burned” cap edges
• Can reduce mushroom weight
• May slow fruiting-body development
• Can produce compact, closed-looking clusters
👉 The goal is NOT maximum airflow.
The goal is controlled airflow matched to temperature, RH, CO₂ and crop stage.
This is why professional mushroom cultivation requires understanding the interaction between environmental parameters, not controlling each parameter independently.
